DOLGELLAU Athletic cruised into the next round of the FAW Amateur Trophy with an emphatic 8-0 victory over Radnor Valley at Cae Marian on Saturday.
The hosts produced a dominant display from start to finish and were rewarded with four goals in each half.
Dol made the perfect start when Dion James opened the scoring after six minutes. The forward was on hand to capitalise after visiting goalkeeper Otto Jones could only spill the ball, firing home from close range.
The lead was doubled on 15 minutes when Rob John Kimberley won possession high up the pitch before showing great composure to finish beyond Jones.
The goal of the match arrived midway through the half. Ioan Roberts exchanged a delightful one-two with Osian Morris before creating space for himself and curling a superb effort into the top corner.
Dolgellau continued to press forward and added a fourth shortly before the interval. A dangerous free-kick caused problems in the visitors’ penalty area and Rob Evans applied the slightest of touches to divert the ball into the net.
The home side showed no signs of easing up after the break. Roberts grabbed his second goal of the afternoon on 57 minutes with an excellent finish after being played through by Tomos Jones.
Roberts then turned provider, setting up Rob John for his second of the match with a well-weighted pass as Dolgellau’s attacking play continued to overwhelm their opponents.
Roberts completed a deserved hat-trick on 75 minutes after combining neatly with Cynan Roberts before Osian Morris rounded off a superb team performance with the eighth goal seven minutes from time following excellent work down the right by Aaron Young.
Manager Rob Evans said: “It was a great performance against a strong side. Especially with some players unavailable due to injuries and other reasons.”
