Llanuwchllyn march on with emphatic win against Holyhead

JAMES Davies stole the show with all four goals as Llanuwchllyn maintained their unbeaten home record with a convincing 4-0 victory over Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday.

Fresh from an impressive win over Gresford on the August Bank Holiday Monday, Llanuwchllyn welcomed Holyhead to Penllyn knowing another three points would be vital to their early-season ambitions.

The hosts made a flying start, moving the ball confidently and playing some attractive football. New signing Daniel Holland impressed on the right flank, while Joe Vaughan and Kyle Jones provided a solid foundation at the back.

Llanuwchllyn's pressure paid off when James Davies opened the scoring with a header after Adam Hesp's cross took a deflection and found its way beyond the Holyhead defence.

Davies doubled the advantage after 25 minutes. A defensive mistake gifted him possession and he made no mistake, calmly firing past the helpless goalkeeper.

The visitors responded by applying some pressure, but Llanuwchllyn remained in control and struck again just before half-time. Tommy Evans threaded a perfectly weighted pass into Davies' path and the striker completed his hat-trick to send the hosts into the break with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The second half was more evenly contested, with Holyhead enjoying more possession but struggling to seriously test the home defence. Most of their efforts came from distance, while Llanuwchllyn's hardworking midfield continued to frustrate the visitors.

Davies completed a memorable afternoon with his fourth goal of the game, finishing off an excellent move created by Gwydion Roberts down the right win after 74 minutes.

The victory extends Llanuwchllyn's unbeaten home record and continues their strong start to the campaign.

With three wins and three defeats in the league, a tough test awaits next Saturday when they travel to face Mold Alex.
