TALYBONT booked their place in the next round of the Emrys Morgan Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dolgellau Reserves.

The tie was a fiercely contested affair, with both sides battling for every ball in a physical encounter that saw tempers flare throughout.

Talybont created the better opportunities and made the breakthrough when Sion Pugh reacted quickest after goalkeeper parried Paul James' shot into his path, leaving him with a simple finish from close range.

Dolgellau fought back midway through the second half and drew level when Brian Thomas converted from the penalty spot to set up a tense finale.

The game became increasingly heated, with Talybont ending the match with 10 men and the visitors reduced to nine. Despite that, the hosts found a winner through Paul James, whose moment of quality proved enough to send the Tigers into the next round.

Crannog FC also progressed with a 2-1 victory over New Quay.

Billy Williams opened the scoring after 20 minutes following good work by Owain Kremers, but Darcy Wells equalised before half-time to leave the tie finely balanced.

The decisive moment came on 76 minutes when 18-year-old Jack Brown combined well with Williams before finding the net to secure Crannog's place in the hat for the next round draw.

Llanboidy are also through after edging a thrilling 3-2 victory over Pencader at Cae Dandre.

Getjin Scourfield gave Llanboidy an early lead before Zak Rees levelled for the visitors. Charlie Bujega restored the hosts' advantage before the interval and later grabbed what proved to be the winning goal.

Pencader kept fighting and pulled one back through Charlie Harrison after an excellent through ball from Alfie Morgan.

Harrison appeared to have forced a penalty shoot-out with a late equaliser, only for the effort to be ruled out as Llanboidy held on to progress.
