A band from Borth are still on a high after playing at the world-famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.

The Refreshers rocked the iconic Cavern Club during their triumphant Liverpool debut on 22 August.

They said the venue was bouncing from the first song, with the crowd fully embracing their high-energy set.

“One local supporter summed up the mood best, telling the us that we "didn't just play the Cavern, we rocked the Cavern", a band spokesperson said.

John Lennon's sister Julia Baird, who originally invited the band to play at the club after seeing them perform live, attended the gig and filmed the band from the side of the stage, telling them afterwards that they were "fantastic."

Lead singer Alex Lloyd, who is originally from Liverpool, said: "It was great to see family from Liverpool there, and I gave Julia the biggest hug — she is so supportive of musicians and bands, we think she is fabulous. We love what we do, and the crowd were definitely amazing too, they really joined in with the energy. The whole place was bouncing."

Lead guitarist James Harvey added: "It was such a genuine pleasure to get the chance to play the iconic Cavern Club. There is so much musical and cultural history literally all over the walls.

“The awesome staff and fantastic bands on before and after us made the whole day such a treasured memory for us as a band, but also for all our friends and family who came to support us. And it was so nice to receive so many great comments from so many people in the club, telling us how much they had enjoyed our gig."

The band say the whole experience, from Julia's invitation through to the night itself, has been one of the highlights of their journey so far.
