DOLGELLAU Athletic Reserves eased into the next round of the Dai Dynamo Davies Cup with a convincing 5-0 victory over Bargod Rangers on Saturday, while Barmouth & Dyffryn Development suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at Crannog.
A healthy crowd at Cae Marian enjoyed the autumn sunshine and an impressive attacking display from the hosts.
Dolgellau's pressure was rewarded midway through the first half when Ethan Lindsay opened the scoring after combining well with David Edwards.
The lead was doubled on 34 minutes as Rhys Jones finished off another chance created by Edwards, giving the hosts a commanding advantage at the break.
Despite their control, Dolgellau had to wait until the 72nd minute to extend their lead. Lindsay grabbed his second goal of the afternoon, with Edwards providing his third assist of the match.
Six minutes later, the same combination struck again as Edwards teed up Lindsay to complete his hat-trick.
Edwards then capped a superb individual performance when the 38-year-old got on the scoresheet himself with nine minutes remaining, sealing a comprehensive 5-0 win .
Crannog also progressed after racing into a two-goal lead against Barmouth through strikes from Eben Thomas and Samuel Dutnell.
The Magpies responded before half-time when Logan Brading pulled a goal back, but Crannog produced a composed display after the interval to hold on for victory and secure their place in the next round.
