Women’s Trophy Cup
CLWB Hoci Pwllheli’s 1st Team booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Trophy Cup with a convincing 4–0 victory over Gwernyfed 1st team on Sunday following a demanding three-and-a-half-hour journey to Brecon, writes Carly-Jo McFarlane.
Pwllheli made the long trip south determined to progress in the competition, and the visitors delivered an impressive performance to secure their place in the next round.
Despite facing a well-organised Gweryfed defence, Pwllheli demonstrated patience, tactical awareness and attacking intent throughout the contest.
The home side worked hard to frustrate their opponents, but Pwllheli’s strategic forward play eventually broke through to produce four goals and seal a comfortable victory.
Carmela Zarate led the scoring with an excellent brace, finding the net twice, while Nan Prys Jones and Eva Wright also got on the scoresheet to complete a commanding team performance.
The result reflected Pwllheli’s attacking quality and defensive strength, with the team maintaining control to see out the match and secure an impressive clean sheet away from home.
The final whistle confirmed a well-deserved 4–0 win and progression into the quarter-finals, bringing Clwb Hoci Pwllheli one step closer to the Welsh Trophy Cup Final.
