SARN HELEN’S Teifion Davies has never shied away from a challenge, but his latest feat was undoubtedly the toughest of his career as he tackled the Brutal Triathlon Goron (Triple) in Llanberis.

The gruelling event began with a 7.2-mile swim in Llyn Padarn at 7am, which Teifion completed in an impressive 5:07:01. He then faced a punishing 347-mile bike ride on open roads through Eryri, taking in multiple undulating laps and testing climbs such as Pen y Pass. After almost 25 hours in the saddle, he completed the cycling leg in 24:47:50.

The final challenge was a staggering 78-mile run. Competitors first had to conquer Yr Wyddfa before embarking on a series of demanding off-road laps. Teifion reached the summit and back in 2:58:08 before covering the remaining miles in 20:37:38.

Displaying remarkable endurance and determination throughout, he crossed the finish line in a total time of 54 hours, 35 minutes and 11 seconds, including transitions, to secure second place overall. Finishing at 1.30pm on Monday, Teifion had taken just a single 20-minute break during the entire event.

Reflecting on his achievement, Teifion simply said: “I enjoyed it all the way.”

His motivation for taking on the challenge was deeply personal. Having lost his grandfather to prostate cancer, he used the event to raise money for the charity and thanked family and friends for the tremendous support they provided throughout, describing the accomplishment as a true team effort. Elsewhere, Sarn Helen runners were also in action at the Forest of Dean Autumn Half Marathon. Representing Wales once again, Mike Davies produced a strong performance to finish sixth in the MV55 category in 1:30:36, while Carwyn Davies completed the scenic but challenging forest trail course in 1:44:03
