Talybont II (332) lost to UWA Commoners (334-0) by 10 wkts
Fine & Country West Wales Conference
ON a good batting surface, Talybont won the toss and elected to bat first. Philip started positively with 41, while Omair and Sohaib bowled disciplined opening spells, writes Muhammad Aslam.
Debutant Hisham made an immediate impact with two early wickets before Sumesh took control of the innings. He produced an outstanding century and shared a 134-run partnership with Jestus to put Talybont in a strong position.
Hisham returned strongly in his second spell, dismissing both Sumesh and Jestus to complete an excellent five-wicket haul on debut. Aslam added two late wickets as Commoners fought back to bowl Talybont out for 332 in the final over.

With 333 required for victory, Commoners were without Doug in the batting line-up, while the in-form Sohaib was unable to open because of a back injury. A new opening combination of Aslam and Asad therefore walked out to begin what looked like a very challenging chase.
The pair immediately took the attack to the Talybont bowlers, racing to 79 in the powerplay and 203 after 20 overs. Aslam reached his century in just the 18th over, while Asad played brilliantly alongside him before going on to complete a magnificent maiden century.
The pair continued to dominate and never allowed the required run rate to create pressure. Commoners remarkably reached 335/0 in just 32 overs, sealing an extraordinary 10-wicket victory with eight overs to spare. Aslam finished unbeaten on a career-best 173*, while Asad also recorded a career-best 117*.
Their incredible 335 opening partnership* has since been confirmed as the highest partnership in a successful run chase in West Wales Conference cricket history.
It was an unforgettable day for Aberystwyth University Commoners — a five-wicket haul on debut, two career-best unbeaten centuries, a record-breaking partnership and, above all, a tremendous team performance.
