LLANILAR Reserves maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Dolgellau Reserves on Saturday.

The Castle Hill Park side made an excellent start, opening a two-goal lead before the break through Jayden Hopkins and Tomos Benjamin.

Samson Young reduced the deficit nine minutes into the second half, but Daniel Dowse restored Llanilar’s two-goal cushion on 64 minutes.

Rhys Jones struck late on to make it 3-2 and set up a tense finish, but the leaders held firm to preserve their 100 per cent record from four matches.

Tywyn Bryncrug Reserves staged another impressive comeback to beat Machynlleth Reserves 3-2.

Machynlleth looked in control after Jonah Crompton and Davey Vaughan put them two goals ahead inside the opening half-hour.

However, Bryn Jones hit back with a brace before the interval to bring Tywyn level, and Dane Ashford completed the turnaround with 15 minutes remaining to seal all three points.
