LLANILAR Reserves continued their march towards the Cambrian Tyres Aberystwyth League title with another commanding display on Saturday, thrashing Machynlleth Reserves 7-0 to maintain their perfect start to the season.

The league leaders have now won all eight of their matches, scoring 38 goals and conceding just 11.

They made a bright start at Castle Hill Park and went ahead after 18 minutes when Dylan Rogers finished off a move involving Tomos Glyn Tomos. The visitors doubled their advantage nine minutes later as Tomos Benjamin converted from a chance created by Jamie Dowse.

Benjamin then took centre stage before the break, completing his hat-trick with two further goals, both set up by Rogers.

He was not finished there and added his fourth goal five minutes into the second half following good play by Sean Bevan. Benjamin then turned provider, setting up late strikes for substitute Yousef Badawa and Gerwyn James.

Nearest challengers Tywyn Bryncrug Reserves remain 11 points adrift, having played a game more, after securing a 4-0 victory at Corris United.

Despite controlling possession, the visitors were frustrated by a resilient Corris defence until Ryan Dean broke the deadlock on 44 minutes. Dean struck again in first-half stoppage time to give his side breathing space.

Seventeen-year-old Lucas Betts extended the lead from the penalty spot on 65 minutes before adding his second shortly afterwards to complete the scoring. Corris finished the match with 10 men after Layton Turner received a second yellow card.

There was no separating Talybont and Padarn United, who shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Cae’r Odyn Galch. Dylan Roberts and Kwame Koramoah twice put the visitors ahead, but Ioan Joseph and Ryan Davies responded for the hosts.

It also ended 2-2 between Ceidwaid Aberystwyth and Borth United.

Liam Lawrence gave the home side an early lead before goals from Ashton Bradley-Thomas and Ben Robbins turned the game in Borth’s favour. However, Ceidwaid continued to press and were rewarded with an equaliser.

Saturday’s fixtures: Borth United v Llanilar Reserves; Corris United v Dolgellau Athletic Reserves; Ceidwaid Aberystwyth v Talybont; Barmouth & Dyffryn United Development v Bont; Machynlleth Reserves v Tywyn Bryncrug Reserves.
