FORMER CPD Felinfach player and chairman Eilir Evans has completed the world-famous Dragon’s Back Race.

Eilir covered 380 kilometres and climbed twice the height of Mount Everest over six gruelling days, racing across the mountainous spine of Wales from Conwy Castle to Cardiff Castle.

Widely regarded as one of the toughest mountain ultramarathons in the world, the event challenges runners to navigate some of Wales’ most demanding terrain, including the peaks of Eryri, Mid Wales and Bannau Brycheiniog.

The race tests endurance, resilience and navigation skills as competitors battle fatigue, changing weather and thousands of metres of ascent.

The club posted: “An incredible if gruelling achievement for a relentless person. Well done, Eilir. Everyone at the club and in the Dyffryn Aeron community is very proud.”

This year’s race was won by Danny Smith, who completed the six-day challenge in a total time of 46 hours, 59 minutes and 52 seconds
