LAMPETER Town booked their place in the quarter-finals of the CWFA Senior Cup with a 3-1 victory over Waterloo Rovers on Saturday.

A closely contested first half appeared destined to end goalless before the visitors struck twice in quick succession to seize control of the tie. Riley Lovell broke the deadlock before Dion Deacon-Jones doubled Lampeter's advantage.

The hosts responded well after the break and reduced the deficit on 65 minutes through Max McLaughlin, setting up a tense finish. However, Lampeter held firm and sealed their passage into the last eight in the closing stages when Garin Evans finished off good work from Lovell to make it 3-1 in the 89th minute.

Lampeter will now host Builth Wells in the quarter-finals after the Bulls secured an impressive 4-1 win away to Welshpool Town.

Despite travelling with a depleted squad, Builth avoided any potential upset by scoring four times before the break to put the tie beyond doubt. James Cadmore opened the scoring with his first goal of the season.

The visitors then took complete control with two goals in three minutes. Ollie Woods grabbed the second before Harry Edwards rifled home a superb strike from the edge of the area. Edwards scored again in first-half stoppage time after being played through by Lee James.

With the contest effectively settled, Builth introduced a number of young substitutes in the second half. Edwards missed the chance to complete his hat-trick when his penalty was saved, while Theo Roberts netted a consolation goal for Welshpool.

In the other Central Wales Cup tie played, Carno edged past Llechryd 1-0 thanks to a dramatic late winner from Keegan Bradley, who struck with just two minutes remaining.

The revised quarter-final draw is: Berriew or Llanrhaeadr v Carno, Knighton Town v St Dogmaels or Guilsfield, Lampeter Town v Builth Wells, and Radnor Valley v Caersws.
