NANTLLE Vale kept up the pressure in the North Wales Coast West Premier title race with a 3-1 victory over Penrhyndeudraeth on Saturday.

The win saw the Vale leapfrog the Cocklemen into second place and cut the gap to leaders Menai Bridge Tigers to six points after the islanders were held to a dramatic 4-4 draw at Llanberis.

Callum Jones gave Penrhyn an early advantage, but his afternoon ended in disappointment when he was sent off later in the game.

The hosts responded strongly at Maes Dulyn, with Alex Kalafusz producing two superb finishes before half-time to turn the contest on its head. He was influential throughout and played a key role in the victory.

Byron Davies added a third after the break to seal Nantlle Vale's third consecutive league win.

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs also returned to winning ways with an impressive 5-2 success at bottom side Mynydd Llandegai.

William Gruffydd opened the scoring before Keaton Davies levelled for the hosts after 10 minutes. Gruffydd restored Blaenau's lead midway through the first half and Mabon Owen made it 3-1 before the interval.

Iwan Morris reduced the deficit for Mynydd Llandegai, but the visitors finished strongly as Owen grabbed his second of the afternoon and Sion Woolway also got on the scoresheet.

Leaders Menai Bridge Tigers were forced to settle for a point in a thrilling encounter at Llanberis.

Dion Owen put the Ffordd Padarn side ahead after eight minutes, but the Tigers responded emphatically through a Callum Graves brace and a goal from Tom Clarke to lead at the break.

Owen converted from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time and, with momentum firmly behind them, Llanberis surged ahead through Ryan Allsup and Guto Jones. However, the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Deio Roberts received a second yellow card, and Menai Bridge capitalised as Cameron Barry struck a late equaliser on 81 minutes.

Elsewhere, goals from Steve Jones, Andy Clarke (2) and Harlee Forward earned Aberffraw a convincing 4-0 win at Bontnewydd, while Gwalchmai claimed a 2-1 victory over Llanrug United thanks to strikes from Alex Cunningham and Cian Owen. Kevin Lloyd replied for the hosts.
